World Lure Championships 2018

Officially titled 11th FIPS-ed Carnivorous Artificial Bait Boat Angling Championships, better known as the 2018 World Lure Championship will take place at Rutland Water, in the East Midlands, between 10 – 15th October. Situated in the county of Rutland, the UK’s smallest county, Rutland Water is one of the most popular fisheries in the UK, attracting predator and fly fishers all year round. The fishery hosts major predator competitions as well as national international fly fishing competitions throughout the year. Species to be found in Rutland Water include Pike, Perch, Zander, Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout. Zander rarely exceed 5kg however pike will reach 15kg+ and perch to 1.5kg have been caught in recent times.

About the World Championships:

A predator fishing competition, teams from around the world will go head-to-head, fishing from 16ft Coulam boats, with Pike (50cm+), Zander (40cm+) and Perch (25cm+) scoring.

Venue Information:

Set in 3,100 acres, Rutland provides visitors with a number of additional recreational activities including watersports, cycling and walking. By surface area it is the largest reservoir in England, only Kielder has a greater volume of water.

Anglian Water offers trout fishing and coarse fishing at their water parks. There is a wide range of permit options available and fishing boats can be hired from Rutland fishing lodge. The Trout fishing season at Rutland Water runs from Friday 9 March 2018 to Thursday 31 January 2019.
